How Did We Choose The Name Burgundy Bespoke Jewellery?
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet but would it be as attractive to say? We don’t think so. There’s quite a lot that goes into the choice of a name. Australia is famous for having some of the most unusual place names and names of people and we’d say that’s because as a nation, people are proud to put in the effort when it comes to naming. So today, we’d like to share with you how Burgundy Bespoke Jewellery got its name.
History Gives Our Name Meaning
Nothing says romance quite like a royal proposal and in 1477, the Archduke Maximillian of Austria was ready to propose to his beloved. Yet, he wanted to make sure that when he popped the question that his request would be looked on favourably. That meant creating something unique.
The Archduke turned to his advisors to work out what he should do to impress his love. After rejecting many suggestions, he came upon the one he liked. He would have the perfect engagement ring made for her.
Mary of Burgundy was thus the recipient of one of the very first (if not THE very first) diamond engagement rings. It was said to be an exquisite piece with the ring set with thin and flat diamonds which spelled out her initial “M”.
It is said that this ring influenced the higher social classes of the day into having their own diamond rings made to share with their loved ones. Over time the desire for diamonds for an engagement has become near universal. Maximillian sure knew how to show his love in the right way.
What Our Name Means To You
Mary of Burgundy gave us her name but the point of this story is not so much what the name means to us but what it means to you.
You see we believe that it’s not just royalty that should be able to have a bespoke piece of jewellery that celebrates love and lasts for a lifetime. We think that you deserve that too.
We think that Australians want to propose with a ring that tells its own unique story and makes the recipient feel truly special. We also think that they’re sick of seeing cheap (and not so cheap) pieces made in the Far East that don’t last and aren’t good quality.
Burgundy Bespoke Jewellery means a tailored service. It means you can be involved in the design of your engagement ring. If you want something changed or altered, it can be. Your relationship is unique and you can make sure that your ring has a story to reflect that.
It means Australian made products and Australian sourced products meant to last as long as your love will last – an eternity.
In short you and your loved one can feel just like royalty but there’s one simple difference between you and The Archduke, you don’t need to be rich. Contact us today and find out how Burgundy Bespoke Jewellery can make your engagement truly special.
