Our Promise: Ethical Jewellery Without Compromise

Burgundy Bespoke Jewellers creates bespoke jewellery that is ethically sourced, responsibly selected, and handcrafted under the direct guidance of Michael Dransfield, your Ringman Wingman.

Stop guessing. Start saving. Get guided.

If you are planning an engagement, a wedding, or a meaningful gift, you are not just buying a diamond engagement ring, wedding ring, necklaces, bracelets, or earrings. You are making a decision that carries emotional weight, financial responsibility, and long-term significance. An online jewellery shop will leave you guessing about diamond quality, stone origin, and value. I do not.

When you work with me, you are not walking into a traditional retail jewellery shop front with a collection in glass cabinets. I operate a we come to you jeweller model across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast, with Zoom consultations available Australia-wide. For areas outside those three locations, consultations are conducted via Zoom. You speak directly with me, Michael Dransfield. With over 50 years of experience crafting bespoke jewellery, I personally guide you through every decision.

Ethical jewellery is not an add-on. It is built into how I work. Every diamond, every selection of gold, and all gemstones are responsibly sourced, so your engagement rings, wedding rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are created with integrity from the outset. This is not a standard jewellery shop transaction or a pre-set collection – it is a custom design experience built around your story.

If you are planning an engagement, preparing for a wedding, or creating something meaningful, I invite you to explore a smarter way to shop: one where you view your options with clarity, understand real value, and design jewellery that reflects your story for generations.

Responsible Sourcing, Chosen with Care

Ethical jewellery begins at the source, long before diamond engagement rings, wedding rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are designed.

All natural diamonds I source comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, which was established to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the global supply chain. Larger diamonds are accompanied by recognised laboratory certification such as GIA or IGI grading reports, confirming cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight.

For clients considering lab grown diamonds, I provide education on how they are created, how they are graded, and how they compare to natural stones. My role is to educate you so you can make an informed decision, not to push one option over another.

I do not have a jewellery shop. I do not carry a collection. I do not travel with loose diamonds. During our consultation, we look at diamonds together on my online diamond platform, which connects directly to global diamond dealers. This allows us to compare stones side by side digitally within your budget and focus on value, cut quality, and brilliance. Clients consistently appreciate this approach because it eliminates retail overhead and provides access to a broader selection of diamonds, ranging from under one carat to over five carats, as needed.

In person, I bring sample sizes and example cuts made from cubic zirconium to demonstrate proportion and design scale. These are visual tools only. Every real diamond is sourced specifically for you once we have selected the right stone.

My sourcing approach includes:

  • Natural diamonds with recognised certification
  • Lab grown diamonds with independent grading
  • Australian sapphire and other precious gemstones sourced upon request
  • Recycled gold in yellow, white, and rose
  • Platinum and sterling silver metals are selected for durability and longevity

If you’re looking for specific gemstones, I can source them. I am not limited to a pre-existing collection because I do not operate on a stock model. Every piece of jewellery is client-led and custom-designed.

Because I do not rely on a pre-set collection or a traditional jewellery shop model, every diamond, selection of gold, and choice of gemstones is sourced with purpose for your project. You are able to explore the market properly, view certified options side by side, and make decisions based on quality and value rather than what happens to be in stock.

Whether you are planning engagement rings or wedding rings, refining rings to mark an important chapter, or commissioning custom diamond necklaces or bracelets, each design begins with your priorities and your story. The result is jewellery created through a considered, transparent process where diamond, gold, and gemstones are selected to suit you, not a jewellery shop display.

From Origin to Ownership: Complete Transparency

You are not adding a piece of jewellery to the cart and hoping for the best. You are working directly with a master jeweller who explains every step.

The process is straightforward:

  1. We meet in person in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, or the Sunshine Coast, or via Zoom anywhere else in Australia. We discuss your vision, your partner’s style, and your budget.
  2. We review diamonds together on my online platform. I show you three to five options in your budget and explain why one offers better cut and long-term value.
  3. Once you select the stone, we design your bespoke engagement ring, wedding ring, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, or other piece of jewellery together, and I begin crafting it.

Bespoke engagement rings and wedding rings take approximately four weeks to finish from final design approval. Each piece of jewellery is handcrafted in Australia. I do not mass produce. I do not outsource overseas.

You can view jewellery designs during your consultation. I will guide you through settings such as solitaire, halo, cluster, and multi-stone designs, explaining what works structurally and what does not. With five decades of experience, I know how a ring will sit on the hand, how it will wear every day, and how to avoid common mistakes that compromise longevity.

If you are planning a secret proposal, I understand discretion is critical. Many of my clients are organising surprise engagements, and part of my role as your Ringman Wingman is keeping the secret proposal a secret if we need to. Consultations are private and tailored around your schedule.

If finger sizing is uncertain, I can send my free Multisizer to you so you can size at home discreetly.

Transparency matters because significant jewellery decisions deserve clarity. Rather than selecting from a fixed collection in a retail jewellery shop environment, you are involved in a custom process where you can explore materials, compare gemstones, and assess gold options with informed guidance.

You are able to view design concepts in detail, understand how each element contributes to durability and balance, and see how your jewellery will come together before it is made. This approach removes uncertainty and replaces it with understanding. The result is jewellery created with intention, shaped by expertise, and aligned with your expectations from the very beginning.

Respecting People, Communities, and the Natural World

Responsible sourcing extends beyond certification. It is about thoughtful decisions at every stage.

I prioritise suppliers who provide documentation regarding conflict-free sourcing and responsible mining practices. While global supply chains are complex, I deliberately choose partners who demonstrate accountability and traceability.

Lab grown diamonds are available for clients who prefer a controlled production origin. Natural diamonds are available for those who value geological history. My role is not to persuade you toward one category, but to ensure you understand the differences in origin, value, and market dynamics.

Recycled precious metals are used where appropriate to reduce demand for new mining. Gold, platinum, and sterling silver used in my atelier are selected for strength, durability, and suitability for long-term wear. Engagement rings and wedding bands are designed to last a lifetime, so material quality matters.

Every ring, necklace, bracelet, pendant, and pair of earrings is handcrafted in Australia under my supervision. I stand behind my craftsmanship. In the unlikely event of a manufacturing fault, I will ensure it is put right. That is part of my responsibility as the jeweller creating your custom piece.

Ethical responsibility is measured by action, not claims. The jewellery I create is the result of considered sourcing decisions that prioritise accountability at every level. When you explore your options, you are presented with facts, not sales language, so you can view how material choices affect longevity, value, and impact. Gold is chosen for strength and suitability to the design, ensuring your custom piece performs as beautifully as it looks.

This is not a conventional shop experience built around volume or a seasonal collection. Each commission is individual. Every element of your jewellery is selected with purpose, refined through experience, and crafted to meet long-term expectations. The outcome is custom jewellery shaped by informed choices, practical expertise, and a genuine respect for the people and environments connected to its creation.

Independently Verified Ethics – Because Trust Matters

Trust is built through open conversation and verified documentation.

When you select a diamond, we review its certification together. I explain what the grading report actually means in plain language. Cut quality is often the most important factor for brilliance, and many buyers are unaware that two diamonds with identical carat weight and clarity can perform very differently based on cut proportions.

If you have seen a diamond elsewhere, you are welcome to share the specifications. I will assess it honestly and explain whether it represents strong value. My objective is to guide you toward the right diamond in the right setting for your budget, not to sell you whatever is convenient.

You are not working with a sales assistant in a jewellery shop. You are working directly with the jeweller who will craft your engagement ring, wedding ring, or other piece.

Independent verification is about substance, not reassurance. When reviewing certification together, you can explore the grading criteria in detail and view how measurements translate into real-world performance once a diamond is set in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or pink gold. The numbers matter, but understanding what they mean matters more.

If you have visited another shop and would like a second opinion, I will assess the information with you objectively. We can explore the specifications, view the comparative strengths, and determine whether the stone represents sound value. The goal is clarity, not commentary.

Throughout the process, you are encouraged to explore thoroughly, view documentation carefully, and proceed only when everything makes practical and financial sense. Working directly with the jeweller ensures that nothing is lost in translation and nothing is left to assumption.

Accountability at Every Stage, Without Exception

When you choose Burgundy Bespoke Jewellers, you are choosing an experience-led approach.

You meet with me personally. I guide you through stone selection, design decisions, and practical considerations such as band thickness, setting security, and long-term wear. I explain what works and what does not, drawing on over 50 years of hands-on experience.

I do not carry stock. I do not push pre-designed collections. I do not operate like a traditional retail shop showroom. Everything is created specifically for you.

  • Direct consultation with me as your Ringman Wingman
  • Clear timelines before crafting begins
  • Handcrafted production in Australia
  • Secure and tracked delivery
